Michael Glasser founded Magellen Properties, Inc in 1988 as a management vehicle through which he manages apartment buildings located in Chicago and in DuPage County. (He came up with the name my coupling his initials (MAG) with his mother’s first name (Ellen.) Ellen, who passed away in 1988, managed family owned properties.) Since Magellen Properties only manages properties in which Mr. Glasser has a large ownership interest (steering clear of "fee management") Magellen is highly motivated to see that the buildings remain well maintained. Magellen does not subscribe to the approach that other building owners use of owning a building for short periods and then "flipping " them to move into something bigger. Rather, he and his partners prefer to closely manage their existing portfolio, with a goal towards long term ownership of well managed properties in desirable and affordable locations.
Magellen Properties manages buildings in the western suburbs and in the Rogers Park community of Chicago..
